CHICAGO, IL – August 3, 2023 – 200 riders from eight states departed from Gurnee, IL today to participate in the 28th annual CowaLUNGa® Charity Bike Tour, taking place August 3rd and 4th, 2024. This event aims to raise funds for the Respiratory Health Association’s (RHA) education, research, and policy change efforts.

The CowaLUNGa Charity Bike Tour begins at Gurnee Mills Mall in Gurnee, IL and offers participants the choice of a one-day ride (18, 30, or 65 miles) or a two-day ride (130 miles). Riders will pedal over rolling hills through northern Illinois into southern Wisconsin, with stops in Bristol, Twin Lakes, and Williams Bay, WI, and passages through the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest, before concluding in Whitewater, WI.

“I am thrilled to be part of the CowaLUNGa Charity Bike Tour for the first time. This event not only brings our community together but also raises crucial funds for lung health,” said new RHA President and CEO Rob Anderson. “I am inspired by so many dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference.”

Throughout the journey, riders will experience unparalleled camaraderie and support from fellow cyclists and the Respiratory Health Association. Many participants have been personally affected by lung disease or lung health concerns such as asthma, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, smoking, COPD, or cystic fibrosis. Their shared commitment helps RHA achieve its vision of healthy lungs and clean air for all.
