Building a Breathable Future: Chicago’s Businesses Unite for Lung Health

In honor of Healthy Lung Month in October, Respiratory Health Association champions Breathe Easy, a citywide campaign that brings together Chicago businesses in support of clean air and healthy lungs.

Breathe Easy highlights the many ways local businesses can raise awareness and support for RHA’s work in lung health research, education, and advocacy. Throughout October, participating businesses will showcase unique initiatives, including special promotions, awareness partnerships, and volunteer collaborations, all designed to spark conversation about lung health.

A healthy city starts with healthy lungs. By uniting the community around this cause, Breathe Easy celebrates the power of collaboration in creating a future where everyone can breathe easy.

All October, visit our partner businesses and take advantage of special offers, promotions, and donation opportunities. Every purchase helps fund Respiratory Health Association’s work in research, education, and advocacy.

Belmont Tavern is a refurbished 1940’s bar in Avondale, steps from the Belmont Blue Line, boasting vintage decor, fun cocktails, and a curated beer and wine selection.

Throughout October, $1 from every weekly cocktail sold will benefit Respiratory Health Association. 

Deep Red is an intimate wine bar and bottle shop with a wide array of Old and New World selections and emphasis on minority vintners.

On Saturday, October 10, during its anniversary party, Deep Red will host a “Kill the Keg” fundraiser benefitting Respiratory Health Association.

Formerly known as the John Hancock Center, 875 N Michigan Ave. is one of the most memorable buildings of Chicago’s skyline. 

In honor of Breathe Easy, 875 N Michigan Ave. will turn its lights Respiratory Health Association red the evenings of Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. 

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is nationally beloved, and its West Loop shop has become a go-to destination for ice cream lovers in the heart of Chicago.

On Thursday, October 8 from 4:00–7:00 PM, Jeni’s West Loop will host a Breathe Easy Ice Cream Social, featuring a limited-edition Breathe Easy Sundae. During the event, 25% of all sales will benefit Respiratory Health Association.

Kaiser Tiger is a West Loop gastropub known for its broad tap selection, comfort food menu, and a sprawling beer garden perfect for gathering with friends.

This October, Kaiser Tiger will feature a special “Breathe Easy” cocktail with a portion of proceeds benefiting Respiratory Health Association.

KOVAL Distillery is a Chicago staple, crafting award-winning organic whiskeys, gins, and liqueurs from grain to bottle. Known for its bright, approachable flavors and bold design, KOVAL has earned global acclaim for innovation and quality. 

This October, KOVAL will release a limited-edition “Breathe Easy” whiskey, available in-person and online at KOVAL’s distillery store. 15% of proceeds will benefit Respiratory Health Association.

Loop Coffee is a collaboration between award-winning roasters Reprise Roasters and Theory Coffee Roasters, united by a passion for exceptional specialty coffee. They source direct-trade coffees with a focus on quality, craft, and community.

Throughout October, Loop Coffee will feature a lung health themed drink in honor of Breathe Easy, with a 10% all profits from the drink benefitting Respiratory Health Association.

Old Town Pour House is a trendy bar offering upscale pub fare and an extensive beer list featuring standout breweries from the Midwest.

On Thursday, October 15 from 4:30–11:00 PM, Old Town will donate 20% of all associated sales to Respiratory Health Association. (Be sure to mention you’re supporting RHA at checkout!)

Spavia is a day spa offering customized massages, facials, and body treatments and more.

During October, Spavia Lincoln Park will donate $10 for every Infrared Halo Therapy session, an infrared sauna paired with salt therapy. They’ll also donate $10 for every lymphatic massage, a new treatment designed to support the immune system and ease upper-body congestion, at either location.

This October, Sugar Bliss is donating 10% of all in-store 6oz mini cookie bag sales to Respiratory Health and selling “Breathe Easy” cookie boxes online.

Wintrust is Chicago’s Bank. Since 1991, they’ve offered a community-focused alternative to the big banks, with more than 200 locations across Chicagoland and beyond.

Throughout October, Wintrust will feature Respiratory Health Association on its iconic I-94 billboard to help support our work and lung health.
