Funding Opportunities

Respiratory Health Association funds ground-breaking lung disease research locally at major institutions. Areas of focus have included asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and more. These grants are designed to aid local scientists/investigators with generating the preliminary data necessary to compete for future federal funding.

Review recent awards and previously funded projects for past grants. See also the Solovy Award for Advancement in COPD.

Request for Applications (RFA)

The Requests for Applications (RFAs) seek innovative studies into the causes, mechanisms, and treatments of a specific lung disease, including pilot and feasibility studies for disease investigation and development and testing of new methodologies and models. Basic, clinical/translational and social/behavioral studies will be considered, with patient-oriented research being particularly valued.

The disease area(s) of focus change from year to year and award amounts are based on available resources. Project budgets are for one year in duration (July to June). This year, we request applications for:

  • Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) – $25,000 award
  • Lung Cancer – $75,000 award

Research Budget Sheet Templates are available in Excel.
